  1. I am enjoying all of the photos of the south side of Chicago even though I grew up on the north side in an area called Hollywood Park. I worked in the Monadnock Bldg. for 7 years, how exciting to see the photo! I remember the open elevator. Didn’t realize at the time what a wonderful building it is.

      The Monadnock Building is world famous. It was a very early skyscraper, but one without the steel frame. The walls at the bottom are many feet thick, almost like an ancient fort.
