  1. I worked at the Homan Ave Headquaters installing and maintaining two message switching 3200 CDC Computers. This was ground breaking technology because it replaced the old Teletype equipment that received catalog orders from all the satalite stores on ticker tape. The Teletype room would be knee deep in paper tape at Holiday time. When the 3200 Computers started up in 1965 all orders went to magnetic tape directly to the warehouse and trucks were loaded and delivering to the midwest states by next day. I was on duty as a CDC enginreer the night MLK was shot and could see the fires nearby in the west side.
I am retired in Minneapolis at 80yrs old now.

  2. This great view was taken by Chicago Aerial Survey on June 20, 1951.

  3. In the phote above, the Sears Office tower (the only remaining part of the Homan st Sears complex) is on the west side of Homan Ave. The picture is pointing EAST, not NORTH. Therefore the park in the photo above is EAST of Homan Ave. The only large park EAST of Homan Ave. and that close, is Douglas Park. Thanks for the memories.
