  1. This area is just south of Central Station, 12th St. and the lakefront, looking southwest. Behind the orange boxcar are support buildings for the station- express loading and diner commissary. The left of the two chimneys is the powerhouse for the Michigan Central roundhouse, the MCRR from Detroit joined the IC at Kensington 115th St. in appx. 1853, Chicago’s first rail junction (Chicagoland’s 2nd after West Chicago), and used their depot here.
