  1. The Archer Express would take us downtown to the movie theaters and some shopping! I remember watching the salesman in Kresge’s showing how to use the new “wave” in haircurling … magnetic rollers. After having an order of French fries and a coke we would go over to the Chicago Theater … that day we went to see “Susan Slade” with Troy Donahue and Connie Stevens …. they were there in person and after the movie my girlfriend Jackie and I went in the alley on the side of the theater to see them on the fire escape “holding court”!

My favorite days would be with my Grandmother Bessie as we would go shopping and have lunch at either Old Heidelberg, Berghof’s or The South Pacific. She would have a Manhattan and I would have my “Kiddie Cocktail”!

    Oh the memories!
