Just one minor point, the big hotel that was long called the Conrad Hilton was called the Stevens originally.

You are right John. I think it did not become the Conrad Hilton until around 1945 or so.
I did a little more researching and the first location is close but the EXACT address was 819 S. Wabash. This has since been torn down and built back up as an 8 story building called The Loftrium. In other words, another piece of Chicago history has been lost.
