  1. At the left edge is Stagg Field, where in 1942 the first man-made self-sustaining nuclear chain reaction occurred in 1942, as part of the Manhattan Project. It was on the north side of 57th Street and as a child was driven along that street when we would visit my grandparents who lived a few blocks east. The walls along 57th were covered with ivy.
    At the upper right edge is the Museum of Science and Industry; the structure had been built for the 1893 Columbian Exposition.
